When it comes to 8-month old Charlie, Jonathan, you are NOT the father!
If you are a fan of the Maury show, there is no doubt that you have heard statements like this hundreds of times. The question is, why do people want to watch a show about women not knowing who the fathers of their children are. The answer is simple: we simply love the drama behind the Maury show. Americans love drama and seeing people make fools of themselves, especially young people. Right now, the Maury show has the youngest audience of any talk show out there, his target audience being between the ages of 18 and 35.
Even though Maury does other themed shows like “Animal Attacks Caught on Tape!”,” Shocking Sex Secrets Revealed”, “Shocking Phobias Exposed”, “Was I Born a Man or a Woman”, and “Amazing Kids”, the ratings come from shows based around DNA drama.
Why is there so much drama in these DNA shows? Let me enlighten you. First the guest, a woman, comes out on the stage enraged or extremely upset. She is usually yelling that she is “1000%” sure that some man back stage is the father of her child. She runs up to the big screen, displaying a picture of her child and the alleged father, and begins pointing out their similarities. All the while the alleged father is back stage calling the woman a whore. The man claims that the woman slept around and that there is no way that he could be the father of her child because they used protection. The man and woman bicker back and forth until Maury finally says, “…lets find out now, the results are in!” Most of the time we already know the answer and for entertainment purposes we hope for the worst! Then Maury reads those infamous words “…you are NOT the father!” Then the woman runs off stage screaming, yelling, and falling down because she just can’t believe what just happened!
This is so hilarious. She had to know there was a possibility that someone else could have fathered the child. To go on national television and have the results come out that way makes her look like she was promiscuous even if that was not the case. It is very hard to get pregnant and the time frame for conception is very small so that means that the woman had to sleep with two or more men within a 7-14 day period, depending on the woman’s cycle. That is kind of disgusting if you think about it scientifically.
Maury is not the only one profiting from these people’s misery; the DNA Diagnostics Center is also. That is the company that processes the DNA results for the Maury Show. Maury gives his young audience what they want to see, and that is drama. I am sure that there are many more shocking DNA results to come. The new season of Maury has already got off to a great start! Just remember the DNA doesn’t lie.
