Top Five TV Aliens

Everybody’s got a T.V. alien they love to love. Star or sidekick, they’re instantly recognizable, create a cult following and engender tremendous loyalty amongst their fans.

  1. A.L.F.

He's covered in orange fur, has eight stomachs, originates from the planet Melmac, eats the odd cat and his real name is Gordon Shumway. Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of A.L.F. (Alien Life Form). ALF crash landed onto our screen and into Willie Tanner's garage back in 1986 and over the next four years he achieved cult status as he learnt about the human condition. In the intervening years he's found time to make a T.V. movie "Project ALF" and appear in various programmes like "The Simpsons", "Family Guy" and "Hollywood Squares"
  2. MORK

“Na-Nu Na-Nu", “Mork calling Orson…Come in your Fattitude” First appearing in an episode of "Happy Days", Robin Williams became such an instant hit with the character Mork from Ork, that the powers that be at ABC gave him his own T.V. series "Mork and Mindy". With an instantly recognizable theme tune, an abundance of catch phrases and a way out, wacky sense of humour, Mork lived with the Mindy in Boulder, Colorado and reported each week to his superior, Orson.
  3. MR. SPOCK

Think pointy ears, unwavering logic and an inquisitive eyebrow - simply put that's Mr. Spock. Half Vulcan and half human, Captain Kirk's right hand man is the first officer of the USS Enterprise in the original series of Star Trek. With the ability to mind meld with almost anything and neutralize an opponent with the rather nifty Vulcan nerve pinch, Mr Spock is the archetypal alien sidekick. Loyal, Brave and True. Named as one of the 50 greatest TV characters of all time by TV Guide, Spock appeared in the first six Star Trek films and will grace our screens once again in Christmas 2008 when the new Star Trek boldly hits a movie theatre near you.
  4. DOCTOR WHO

Currently into his tenth regeneration, the Time Lord from Gallifrey travels through time and space in the TARDIS, which due to it's unusual properties looks outwardly like a police box but internally is as big as it needs to be. His many enemies have included The Master, The Yeti and The Cybermen, but none of them have captured the public conscious like The Daleks, his nemesis from the planet Skaro. Over the years he's been ably assisted by a myriad of human companions and occasionally his robotic dog K9 who in 2008 will be getting a T.V. series of his own.
  5. TEAL'C

Definitely the strong and almost the silent type, Teal'c is the Jaffa from Stargate SG-1. Originally the First Prime of Apophis, Teal'c joined the SGC and travelled the universe with his fellow teammates Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter and Daniel Jackson. His most notable features are the gold embossed emblem on his forehead and in earlier episodes the Goa'uld symbiote he carried in his stomach. Versed in Jaffa, close-quarter combat styles, his bravery and stamina are legendary. In short, he's the kind of alien you want next to you in a firefight.

Know what you mean, Onflame and Geronimo, but where can you get copyright free pictures of ALF, Mork et al from?

It says that ONFLAME is inactive, but every article every article I read has got some kind of comment by him/her. Go figure.

It means that I'm not publishing at the moment (actually for quite some time). It doesn't mean that I'm going to stop viewing others' articles or commenting on them.

Cardtouche, you can get pics from yahoo or google search. These pics are published by Triond. That's how I get all my pics. Also, in your comment Cartouche, you asked "...Mork et al...". Is Mork et al the name of the alien? Or is it French?

I think justWRITE is an absolute critic. what rights does he/she/it have to judge what onflame does? Onflame's article's are really good and I have read them all. Such critics should be banned from Triond.

I completely agree with anonymous. justWRITE's comment has really irritated me...

Hi Onflame thanks for the heads up on the pictures. Apparently Mork didn't have a last name just plain old Mork. Et al as far as I know is Latin (et alia)it's an abbreviation for 'And Others'. By the way, loved you 'Expensive Chocolates' piece.
