What Ever Happened?

On the Star Trek franchise.

The most interesting fact about Star Trek is that it has been on the air for so long. With every series one would think that they would run out of stories or ideas over the years. In some of the episodes you can tell that they are reusing that same thing every time.

Can a person be frozen in a shower in so many angels or rehashing the same thing everytime. When thinking about the ships and how they move, now of it seems possible.

The Franchise itself wasn't at fault and it wasn't broken in the first place when Enterprise was cancelled at all.

The fans were little and I was one of them, not many fans liked the idea of a prequel and abandoned the Franchise. This is one of the reasons why the series failed in the end, no one wanted to see Star Trek anymore.

It was the fact that the fans were tired of the same thing over and over again. In the forums, the fans were talking which captain was better; some hated the show or compared it to Star Wars.

When you think of it, we failed it not the other way around. Star Trek has been off the air for so long and one day it will return in a different light.

Not as a new series but as a mini series, Paramount needs to rethink how to expand Star Trek. Take a note from Star Gate, straight to DVD sales or launch a TV film every once in a while. How about iPod episodes, this would help out and get new actors to launch their carrers.

With so much that is on TV now, one would think that Paramount had learned it's lessen.

Let's recap for a second.

  • Star Trek is suffering greatly.
  • Star Gate has come and stayed and filled our hearts with hope.
  • It's the fans fault for not watching and helping out a dying franchise.

With this all in mind no wonder why it has left us with an empty hole inside. The new film coming up which has been delayed isn't a good thing at all, waiting to see the dentist is one thing but this takes the cake.

Can this new film bring back a failing franchise; there is a small chance it can. Everyone of us needs to have Trek not only back in the threatre but also back on TV were it can be either a mini series, TV film and hopefully back as a television series. Paramount think about all of this for a change, if you want money then think like Star Gate and get a clue.

I do not like Star Trek, I much rather prefer Star Wars although I am not a huge fan of either...lol...
But I do think that you have a well written article...and wanted to thank you for the effort and also for sharing!!!
I also wanted to mention that Star Trek is still on at around 1AM on the weekend on Fox!! I watch it if I'm awake...although I think it's just re-runs...
