How Star Trek influenced the development of modern society.
Star Trek is a great show that does a great job of exploring the uniqueness that is the human race. It does a great job of highlighting the weaknesses of the human race, but it also shows how these weaknesses guide us, and improve us as time goes by.
It does this by showing that it is a natural human trait to learn from our mistakes. By learning from mistakes we come closer to working together for each other, bringing a world like Star Trek even closer to reality. This also allows us to improve our opinions when we communicate with "enlightened" species.
It also highlights our history, and may even predict the future. While the communicators of Star Trek: The Original Series may have inspired cell phones. The adventures which take place on the holodeck teach us that humanity was never intended to be perfect. This allows us to continually improve ourselves for the better of society.
It explains the risks in life. Life is an adventure if we did not take risks everyday, there would be little progress in society. Without society the human race would fail to exist.
Science fiction is the adventure of life in a futuristic setting. Often it can influence life in many ways. Shows such as Star Trek can give a valuable insight into the history of the human race. Showing that life may be the similar in the future to life today.
