Besides, for teaching Xena different ways to defend herself, Lao Ma taught Xena a different way to think and to look at things. She could see Xena's greatness. Her teachings were all written down in a book. She had many quotes of wisdom that Xena often remembered after Lao Ma's death. She became a role model for Xena. Lao Ma was a woman of great wisdom.
Xena met Lao Ma when she was traveling with Borias. They were working as a team. Xena was Borias' lover.
She taught Xena the eastern ways, all of which were mystical. Lao Ma did things Xena had never seen before such as healing her after her legs had been broken and protecting her from the dogs. Xena possessed that power and Lao Ma wanted to teach Xena how to use it.
