Jim Clancy is Melinda Gordon's husband, in the series Ghost Whisperer. He is indeed a role model. Jim decided he wanted to be a Paramedic despite what his father wanted, and did it in order to be happy. He saves lives, and is a simple civil servant. It caused a rift between him and his father, because his father could not accept what he wanted to be. He wanted to save lives. For this reason later he decides he wants to become a doctor, for which Melinda is in full support of.
He met Melinda one day when he rescued her from an apartment fire in her building. When Melinda told him about her ability to see the dead and help them cross over. He accepted what she said was true. These words did not frighten him at all away from her. Jim lets Melinda do what she as to do, just as she lets him do what he must do.
Melinda tells him of the trips she has to make, and if he feels they are dangerous he has no problem going with her so she can help the person she needs to help. He assists her in little ways if he can.
Sometimes he can be overprotective, like he was with his mother when she brought Ellis over to meet her son and his wife. Because of his connections he had a background check done on Ellis and later confronted him about what the police report said. He later apologized to both Ellis and his mother for being to overprotective in letting his mother make her own choices.
Jim loves baseball and camping. He often takes Melinda on little camping trips where they commune with nature.
Because he and Melinda are always helping people, when his friend Matt is ready to commit suicide, Jim is ready to be a friend and confront him in trying to stop him.
Jim loves helping people the same way that Melinda does. That is why he is always supportive and he makes the choices he makes.
