Anya Jenkins of the television series, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, is a role model. She may have started evil, since she was originally Anyanka, Patron Saint of Scorned Women, staking revenge with the power of granting wishes given to her by D'Hoffryn starting over a man named Olaf in the year 860. Anya was D'Hoffryn's favorite. He saw great things for her.
Anya met up with the Scooby gang in 1998 in Sunnydale, when Cordelia Chase was granted a wish after Xander Harris cheated on her with Willow Rosenberg. Cordelia wished Buffy Summers never came to Sunnydale. The wish was granted, but in the end, Rupert Giles destroys the necklace that granted the wish and everything turns back to normal, making Anya human.
Anya, not using to being human is overcome by feelings, which she develops for Xander Harris. Over time, she and Xander becomes a couple. Anya helps Buffy, Willow, and Giles at times when discussing end of the world events and helps Buffy defeat them. Anya is not afraid of demons and other evil things, she is afraid of bunnies. Anya does not remember a lot of what it means to be human. Anya learns to like other friends who come into her lives like Reilly Finn and Tara Maclay.
Anya learns that she is good at making money. She invested money into the stock market, and tripled her investment. Later she goes to work for Giles at his Magic Store and eventually becomes his partner.
Halfrek is a vengeance demon known to Anya as Hallie. Halfrek met the gang earlier when she grants Dawn, Buffy's sister, a wish for vengeance. It was at Buffy's birthday party and everyone becomes trapped in Buffy's home. Anya tricks Halfrek into undoing the spell.
Xander eventually asks Anya to marry him and he ends up leaving her at the alter. Xander is made to believe that Anya will eventually cheat on him and they will never be happy. Anya consoles with her friend Hallie. She wanted revenge for him leaving her at the alter. For a short period, she receives her powers from D'Hoffryn, but found she did not enjoy the revenge. She returned to helping the Scooby gang. Anya lost it in her heart to do evil deeds.
In the end when the Hellmouth by the First Evil was swallowing Sunnydale, Anya risks her life to save Xander.
