Matt Parkman of Heroes is a role model as well as a hero. He is a man who has had to make some tough choices. Parkman has telepathy, and can hear people's thoughts. He is a police office. Matt has been struggling with dyslexia. It unfortunately has been holding him back from a position as detective on the LAPD. He also worked very hard to try to please his wife Janice, as they went through martial problems. It did not help when she cheated on him with one of his co-workers. After Janice told him she was pregnant, he was suspended. He took a position as a security guard protecting someone and was not very lucky because that person was murdered while he was on the job.
While on that job as security guard he ends up picking up the diamonds owned by his client, and keeps them away from the police. He gives it to his wife as a present in a ring. When she finds out they were stolen she becomes very upset.
Parkman likes being a police officer and going after the bad guys. He really is tired of being dressed in blue and directing traffic. He wants to be a detective but keeps on having to overcome obstacles.
He ran into Peter Petrelli while working with the FBI in Odessa, Texas. He was around when Sylar went after Claire Bennet.
While he was, trying to find out how he got his powers of telepathy he ran into Ted Sprague, who took him to Texas to go after the man with the horn-rimmed glasses (Noah Bennet) and he met Claire Bennet and her family. Parkman shot Claire in order to prevent Ted from hurting other members of her family.
When New York City had to be saved from the explosion, he was there along with all the others. He was shot by Sylar and rushed to the hospital.
He later becomes a police officer in New York City and is able to take the detective test. He passes with excellence because it is given verbally.
Parkman also ran into Molly Walker, a little girl who is able to find other people with special abilities. He and Mohinder Suresh take care of her and protect her. She was especially afraid of the Nightmare Man who turned out to be Parkman's father. Matt's father left him when he was a child and he really does not remember very much about him. He put Molly into a coma, and Parkman ultimately had to rescue her, putting his own father into a coma.
Parkman is a man who comes through when he is needed.
