Ando Masahashi is Hiro Nakamura's best friend in the television series, Heroes. Ando is from Japan. Ando did not believe Hiro at first when he told him that he could move through time and space until Hiro took him with him on his quest. Ando cheers him on to complete his quest and to be the hero Hiro wants to be. Ando also gets Hiro into a heap of trouble while in Las Vegas. He was able to meet his favorite internet stripper, Niki Sanders.
Ando goes into the future with Hiro and sees New York City after the explosion, and together they know they must work to stop it. They go looking for Isaac Mendez after they find drawings of both himself and Hiro inside, knowing that he can see the future.
Ando is in love with Kimiko Nakamura, Hiro's sister. A biker gang was after her. Little did he know Kaito Nakamura (Hiro and Kimiko's father) was watching them and frightened the gang away. Kimiko thought Ando frightened them and Ando was able to kiss Kimiko.
Ando and Hiro also travel to Odessa, Texas where they meet Charlie, who Hiro tries to save from Sylar later. Ando also meets up with Peter Petrelli before he goes to “Save the Cheerleader, save the world,” as the future Hiro told Peter he had to do.
At the Natural Museum of History, they go after the sword of Takezo Kensei. It turns out the sword was fake but they found the real one was in Mr. Linderman's collection and Ando helps Hiro retrieve it. On the sword is Japanese marking which Ando explains means "Godsend great talent".
Ando, like everyone else, makes mistakes, but he means well.
