Ok then its episode 10 of the fourth series. This was not any old Doctor Who episode, it didn't have visible monsters and it was all confined into one place with the Doctor not being able to persuade people that he knows what he is doing.
The whole theme of this episode was centred on the planet of Midnight which for some strange reasons except for the glimmering of diamonds, humans have put a health spa on the planet. The Doctor, leaving Donna behind who was out in the spa, went on a tourist shuttle of the Crusader to see the Midnight Falls.
On board the entertainment section is terrible, the Doctor knows this and switches them all off with his sonic screwdriver, to the relief of everyone on board. On board with him are six others, the professor had been on there 15 times and had brought his study partner along with him. There is also a family of parents and one grown up child and lastly a business looking woman.
Around halfway to the 4 hour distance to the waterfall, the shuttle stops. The Doctor gets his way into the control part and finds out that everything is working perfectly even though they have stopped; they lift the shutters which protect the people from the rays and the engineer spots a shadow coming towards them. The Doctor tells the rest of the tourists that they're stabilizing the engines but the woman who was sitting behind the Doctor knew this was not true.
Soon afterwards there's a knock on the side of passenger bay, everyone is startled and start raising questions that there's someone out there, the professor says not. The banging keeps on and on until when someone else bangs back it copies the same move. Everyone gets even more scared and then it gets on the roof, the business woman screams that it's going for her, whom it does and then the whole cabin sparks up, everyone is sent side to side and the lights are off. They find that the control crew cabin has been cut off and they have been vaporised, the woman though is fixed in one position.
The power comes back on and in one of the T.V screens next to the doctor, Rose is shown saying “Help Me” this is another continuation of the re appearance of Rose. The woman who is now captured by the monster starts to copy what everyone is saying, it unnerves the others and the Doctor tries to take control, but his words don't seem encouraging as there is someone else copying word for word.
The second phase becomes worse, the monster starts to say the words at the same time or just ahead of the supposed speaker, the Doctor tries to reason by saying he can find a voice for her without any death but then the monster takes his voice and makes him go fixed into one position like she was. The others start getting agitated and want to throw the Doctor out and the woman is encouraging them, only three people know the truth but they have no power over the others so they look helplessly on as they see people struggling to get the Doctor to the door.
The Hostess finally sees the real truth and before the doctor can be thrown out she grabs hold of the Business Woman and they both get sucked into the cold midnight sky, the Doctor is released by the monster and then the rescue ship comes to collect them. It all ends well except the Doctor is thinking how the Hostess saved his life.
This was one of the best episodes of this series, I really think it was amazing of what the sound experts of the Doctor Who crew actually did as getting everything word perfect and sound perfect must have an extremely difficult task. The psychological element of this episode was brilliant as it makes you think about the species of Humans.
