After over 40 years of exterminating all and sundry the pepper pop killing machines with the squeaky voices have been beaten to the top spot in a recent poll.
They were bested by the season three bad guys The Weeping Angels, a collection of states who could steal peoples life force and send them to the past, when they were out of their line of sight. Davros and his Dalek creations came in second place whilst the other familiar Whobaddies the Cybermen strode into third place.
The Radio Times poll also featured The Sontarans and Ood. Doctor Who is of course renowned for its habit of making you watch episodes from behind the sofa or through your fingers, whilst covering your eyes. The most recent reboot of the series seemingly providing the most scares and scariest monsters to date.
