A successful reality television show's hidden message in my point of view.
Endemol, founded 1994 was very successful on bringing reality and game shows in our homes. Includes Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, 1 vs. 100, Star Academy and of course The Big Brother Show. These are just some of their successful productions with counterparts all over the globe.
But I will just concentrate on one show, The Big Brother
Big Brother is a reality television show wherein a group of people hand-picked from thousands who auditioned will lived-in together under one roof for several weeks. They will are isolated from the outside world, not even a watch nor could a calendar link them and the outside world. One more thing… There are lots of cameras around the entire house. Each contestant, known as housemates will try to win the pot prize. (“Whoa… prizes are really cool men…”) They will nominate housemates every week for eviction and the people watching and following the show will vote for whoever will be saved from eviction. The nominee with the lowest vote will be evicted from the house.
What's the hidden message?
Big Brother is can only be heard… Nobody has seen him. The house is full of rules and regulations. Each day the housemates live with a task. Each task has its reward. Each rules violated has its consequences.
This plot is telling us something. That in the real world, there is someone with authority which we could not see is watching us every second of every minute of every day. That there is GOD above us monitoring, the way we lived, way we talk, act, and even the way we mingled with each other. How we care for one another and if we are ready to do sacrifices for the good of others?
He has His rules for us. Remember the Ten Commandments?
If we enjoy watching the show, I think we should sometimes reflect on the hidden message and give thanks to Endemol for opening our eyes and minds about the reality of life.
