Do You Have Talent?

Tryouts for the television reality show America's Got Talent have been going on in several cities around the United States.

Season 3 will begin in June and will have returning judges from season 2, David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne, and Piers Morgan. There have been a couple of changes since the first season which shows that the producers of this show acknowledge the need for some improvements.

In the first season singer Brandy was the original female judge until the second season where Sharon took her place. Brandy was a little tougher than Sharon, but they are both good at speaking their minds. The two male judges, Hasselhoff and Morgan remain the same. Hasselhoff who is better known as "the Hoff" is a more realistic judge. He doesn't criticize unnecessarily and is likable whereas Morgan isn't. Morgan comes across arrogant and pompous. He isn't a pleasant personality either. He can be right out nasty sometimes for absolutely no reason which can upset the other judges as well as the viewers.

The host for season one was Regis Philbin who was replaced by Jerry Springer in season 2. Springer will continue as host for season 3; however Philbin seemed to make the audience and viewers more excited about what was going on. Springer isn't bad, but I suppose after years of his own show he has managed to develop a very laid back mannerism that can bore viewers. He can be rather funny as he has shown on another reality show (dancing with the stars) but he seems to treat America's Got Talent as some hideous story on his show.

I am not an avid watcher of America's Got Talent, but there is potential for this show to capture more viewers including myself. I like watching some of the goofy acts they have come on and there are quite a few good acts that are shown. Yet, I get annoyed when I see some acts go through that weren't very good while other good acts get cut. I seem to lose interest as the show goes on. The finale is always dull since it drags on too long. The first season winner was well deserved, but I wasn't happy with the season two winner. I don't even think the ventriloquist should have made it to the finals. The result show went on and on and bored me to no end. It simply needed maybe a one hour show if not 30 minutes. Bring back some of the other acts to perform rather than too many performances from the finalists. Season 3 of America's Got Talent may be better than previous seasons since the show has become more popular and a larger variety of people will try out.
