Shirley Schmidt is a Senior Partner and Attorney on the television series Boston Legal, and she is a role model. She knows how to pull strings, especially those of Denny Crane and Alan Shore. She was brought into the office from the Washington D.C. office by Paul Lewiston who felt someone needed to control Denny Crane. All she does is whisper the words “Denny Crane” into his ear and it is done. It was very easy for her since she had already slept with Denny to know exactly how to tease him, because she knows that Denny wants her. She consulted with Lori Colson when she was a Junior Partner.
The first thing she did when she came into the office was get rid of Sally Heep. When she comes in, she cleans house. She likes being in control and she has definitely learned all the buttons to push when necessary. She always keeps her wit at hand. She is not afraid of sexual bandore, and if someone asks her for her advice, she is more than happy to give it considering as she says, “I'm Schmidt.”
She jumps into cases if they need another chair (even the most of extreme of cases like suing the government), and will work with any personnel necessary. Schmidt also knows her own limitations. If she cannot pull off what needs to be done, she brings someone in who can. It is her job and that is why she excels.
