Paul Lewiston of the television series Boston Legal is a role model. He attends to damage control at Crane, Poole & Schmidt. He is the Managing Partner. He is constantly watching Denny Crane is to make sure he does not say something regrettable that will ruin its image. As far as his problems with Denny, he felt the right thing to do to protect the firm's interest was to call in Shirley Schmidt, so he did just that. Before that, he had relied on Lori Carlson to second chair to protect the firm.
He is also on Alan Shore about his behavior in the courtroom. He only wants to see the bad behavior when he requests it. He does not like it when there is a problem with ethics in the way Alan Shore handles his cases. He believes in following the rules by the book, which he did in every issue except when Lori Carlson came to him about a case concerning a father who was dying and wanted the cord blood of his son. Lori demanded he do the right thing, emotionally for the father, and he gave in. When Shirley Schmidt needs advise she will consult Paul Lewiston.
He is the resident father figure of the firm and can be very rigid. He is always looking out for the firm's best interest and is disturbed by how much other members do not think of the firms' image when performing their positions as attorneys or in their daily lives out in public. In the end, he only wants what is best for the firm and what is best for the clients.
