At last the charismatic reporter Louis Theroux was back on our TV screens. After his fantastic insights into famous celebrity lives like Sir Jimmy Saville, and Paul Daniels we were not disappointed when he associated with some of the top gamblers of Las Vegas.
Louis focussed on the casino at the Hilton Hotel and met one of “high rollers” who was about to go on a gambling binge. He was given the presidential suite with his own private butler free of charge for being a highly valued customer. As Louis followed him around the casino he continued to lose large amounts of money.
When Louis decided to bet some of his own money on a game of Baccarat he came away winning $1,500 dollars!
The conclusion you got from watching this highly entertaining programme was that enormous amounts of money were lost at casinos. Some responsibility should be given to the owners of casinos to give advice to vulnerable people who don’t know when they have lost more than they can afford. It was also interesting how the addiction of gambling was controlling the lives of the gamblers and affecting the lives of the people they were closest to.
