It has been a long summer as far as television goes. A lot of highly acclaimed shows have been on a break for awhile now, and where shortened before they left due to the writers strike. Here is a look at some of the shows that will be returning and when, with some insight about the shows if you have never heard of them.
The Office is an American TV show adapted from a British show of the same name. It stars Steve Carell as Michael Scott, anawkward and sometimes incredibly mean manager for Dunden Mifflin paper. The show is filmed like a documentary, where thecharacters know they are being followed by a film crew. Featuring a wide variety of unknown actors, including Creed Brattonfrom the band The Grass Roots, The Office never stops with the absurd comedy and hilarious pop culture references. Here is avideo featuring some of the many arguments Michael Scott has with the HR Director in the office, Toby.
If Sherlock Holmes was alive today, and a doctor, and addicted to Vicodin, then he would be House. House is centered around Hugh Laurie who plays the lead character, Gregory House. House is a drug addict and a misogynis, but also the best diagnostician of all times. When he is not sexually harassing women, and while he is constantly using vicodin, House solves even the most difficult of medical mysteries. In this clip, House was trying to get one of his doctors to submit to a test but she had previously refused.
Prison Break is a non stop, action packed series with many twists and turns. It is centered around the character Michael and his brother Lincoln, and the insanity of prison life. If you are sick of TV shows that always drag things out, then this is the show for you. The video below is the opening credits of season 1.
In my opinion, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the funniest show on television, and maybe the funniest show of all time. Even before Danny Devito joined the cast in season 2, the show had me hooked with its outlandish and vile humor. The show is about a brother, his sister, and their two friends that own a bar together in Philadelphia. They are also the worst people in the world. It does not matter to them who they hurt as long as they get what they want in the end. That does not happen often, as they mostly get exactly what they deserve instead. Here are a few clips from the actual show.
A serial killer named Dexter Morgan is the main character in the show. Dexter is different from most serial killers because he only kills people that deserve it. Also, he is the blood splatter analyst for the police department in Miami, where most of his murders take place. The show also developed an amazing advertising campaign that turned fountains in major cities around the world into blood fountains. This picture is in Paris.
In this video, Dexter shows up to a crime scene and is pleasantly surprised by what he finds.
WARNING: This video contains images of a body that has been chopped into pieces. Theres no blood though.
What would you do if you discovered you had super powers? Would you abuse them for your own selfish reasons or would you use them to try to take over the world? In Heroes a bunch of ordinary people start to realize they have super powers, and like ordinary people they do not know what to do about it all. The second season was cut short by the writers strike, but the new season "Vilians" looks to get everyone excited all over again. Here is the trailer for season 1.
I have not personally seen this show, so I will just paraphrase here. Entourage is about an A-List actor named Vincent Chase and friends from his childhood. They try to deal with the hectic and hilarious Hollywood lifestlye. This is a trailer for season 3.
Returns: 2008-2009 regular season starts September 4, 2008
Network: (for the first game) NBC
This is a bonus, because I realize its not necessarily a TV "show" so much as it is a sport. The season kicks off with the Washington Redskins VS the (Super Bowl Champion) New York Giants. To get you excited for the season, here are the highlights of the Giants VS Patriots in the super bowl. These always make me happy.
Why are you waisting your time watching these TV programs? Get out and do something real, don't just watch other people doing things. It's not called the idiot box for nothing!

You are pathetic. Can't even take any criticism. I laugh at your cowardice.
